Seeing the reef was awesome unfortunately everything was closed on green island except the dive shop, one small Cafe, and the animal exhibits. This was very disappointing and noisy ad they were building next to the pool. I would visit the reef again but not green island

Green Island needs a big clean. As soon as entered the shop village area all could smell was bird faeces. The decking needs a good clean along with the gardens beds. Only 3 shops opened. The bar had overpriced food, the ice blocks in the kiosk had ice frost and looked like had melted and refrozen. I understand tourism numbers down but if you offer to take any tourist there needs to be a standard of maintenance. We were okay as snorkelled most of the time but lots of older tourists unhappy as nothing much for them to do. There was a pool but if I want to go in a pool i would have stayed at my fantastic resort. Would not recommend at the moment until a huge clean and reopening occurs

All the staff were awesome and we were able to sit on the front of the Cat for the trip over. Island is beautiful just sad to see so many things shut down due to lack of tourism at the moment. We did the 10:30-4:30 trip, definitely didn’t need any longer.

Great day out. The glass bottom boat was a great experience and very informative. I really recommend doing it. They explain what fish you are seeing and all coral.

Green Island was a great place for the kids to learn to snorkel and gain some confidence in the water. We opted for the Discovery tour with Great Adventures which included quality snorkel gear as well as the glass bottom boat tour and it was good value for money. The coral was much better than expected and can recommend the left side of the jetty for amazing fish and turtles (even a reef shark!). The glass bottom boat tour was excellent and we saw lots of fish and coral. We took our own lunch but the food coming out of the cafes looked good and we do order some hot chips. Staff in the dive shop were very friendly and helpful. We added on a boat snorkel tour which went about 800m offshore to one of the dive sites – good practice for the family and we saw lots of good coral and marine life including clown fish and turtles. Would certainly recommend Green Island Adventures.

For a first timer to the Reef. (post covid). It was perfect day getaway to Green Island & The Barrier Reef. Two of us spent the day being Aussie tourists. We enjoyed the boat ride even though a bit rough. Made the adventure more riveting Green Island was amazing, staff very helpful and friendly. Snorkeling on the Reef & Pontoon was the highlight. We really enjoyed our experience. Please everyone support Queensland tourism & Great Adventures crew.. thank you 😊

Waste of time and money. Boat trip to island was good and staff friendly, however nobody bothered to inform us at booking that is was low tide and snorkeling was nearly impossible. So no snorkeling and swam in the green island pool. Now for the island. Nothing open and some of the rudest and most unfriendly staff I have ever come across . The place smells of bird crap. Now I have done outer reef and the so called reef from the island. Do not waste money on this tour. If it’s low tide you will sit around bored waiting for the return ferry

My family and I had a wonderful trip to Green Island. One of the reasons we chose this trip was because we weren't sure whether we wanted to go on one of the longer trips to the outer reef or not as this was our first attempt at snorkelling. The trip to the Island was only 45 mins and we had approx 4 hours on the Island to explore, snorkel and take a trip on the glass bottom boat. We could have stayed longer as we all thoroughly enjoyed the snorkelling, seeing many fish and stingrays. The tour on the glass bottom boat was very informative and we saw various types of coral, clown fish and a couple of turtles.

This was the highlight of my stay in the far north. I highly recommend the Great Adventures reef and green island. You take the reef king to green island and you have the time scheduled for the glass bottom boat the rest of the time you are free to explore the island. You can also snorkel and scuba dive and on the island itself there is a crocodile jail which houses troublesome crocs from the NT presently one of its occupants Cassius is the largest crocodile in captivity and to say he is big is an understatement they also have the Guinness world record proudly on display to prove it. You also have access to the pool however with the reef itself just there it simply cannot compete. The reef itself is breathtaking. On the reef king prior to departure you are served light refreshments also. Great adventures were are fantastic tour operator you also learned so much about the reef also and no matter what age the tour made it very accomodating. Definitely one to put on your must list. We spent a week in cairns only just returned today and did a number of tours yet this is the one we are still talking about. Seriously highly recommended

This was a waste of time and money. If you truly want to see the Great Barrier Reef I’d HIGHLY recommend doing another tour. It is catered towards people over 65+ who want to avoid everything (water, sun, adventure, etc.) but still be at the “reef”. A primarily indoor boat takes you to the island which doesn’t look that nice and has very simple activities and food. Even if you are crunched for time like I was, I’d recommend another tour which takes you to the Outer Reef. I’m also not the best swimmer but this was extremely uneventful. It was no different from going to any beach and walking in the water to snorkel.
